Agenda Item # 13.A.

TITLE:  City Hall Progress Decision
Subject

Finalization of City Hall Decision

Summary and Background

The City Council has been discussing the need for a new city hall periodically over the past four years. Since the December 2019 fire in city hall, a more focused discussion has taken place related to moving forward immediately to build a new city hall or to use insurance proceeds to reinstate the status quo.

For the past few weeks three different public meetings have been held related to this topic along with a related online survey.

Tie-In to Council Goals:

The idea of bringing a concept of city hall forward was a 2019 Hermiston City Council Goal.

The project would cost $9,000,000 and would be paid for with enterprise zone funds from both Lamb Weston and Amazon Long-term enterprise zone agreements. There would also be approximately $175,000 in insurance proceeds to put into the project.
