Permanent Location of the City Food Pod

Summary and Background

The City Council decided over a year ago to pilot a food pod location on a city-owned parking lot at the corner of Orchard and W 3rd Street. 

 

In the work session on June 22, 2020, options were presented related to other possible locations for a food pod. Those locations were discussed in depth at that time and are the following:

  • Butte Park (Funland/Splash Pad)
  • Newport Park
  • Orchard (Current Location)

Fiscal Information

Costs for each of the options are as follows:

  • Orchard ($108,000)
  • Butte ($184,000)
  • Newport ($89,800)

 

These numbers are estimates for an outside contractor doing the work. Some of the work at some of the sites could be done by city crews.

As explained above.

Recommendation

Staff recommends staying at the Orchard site.

Requested Action/Motion

Motion to direct staff to make improvements at one of the three locations.
