TITLE:  Discussion of Potential Emergency Shelter Distance Requirements 
Subject

Potential modifications to the spacing requirement for temporary emergency shelters are presented.

Summary and Background

At the September 28, 2020 city council meeting the council discussed potential modifications to the separation requirements for temporary emergency shelters.  To aid in this discussion, staff has prepared four maps to illustrate various spacing requirements.

 

The first map lays out the current 1,000 foot spacing requirements from parks and schools.

 

The second map illustrates a blanket reduction in spacing distance to 750 feet.

 

The third map illustrates maintaining the 1,000 foot school separation but reduces the park spacing to 500 feet.

 

The fourth map illustrates a blanket reduction in spacing to 500 feet.



Tie-In to Council Goals:

Staff has prepared these maps at council direction.
