This project will replace water main piping along a route from the intersection of NW 7th & Standard (by Rocky Heights Elementary), south down 7th to Ridgeway, east down Ridgeway to NW 6th, and finally south down 6th to Hermiston Avenue.

Although it is not entirely known, it is believed that the majority of piping in this project area dates to the 1920's.  In addition to the failing piping, some pipe sections and fittings may contain lead.  These pipes are some of the oldest in the City.

Replacement of this piping section will also increase the pipe size from the existing 6" diameter to 12" diameter to accommodate for past and future demand growth.

Due to the condition of the roadway for the NW 7th Street replacement section, this project will also install a 1.5" asphalt overlay to the full-width of that street between Ridgeway and Standard upon completion of the pipe replacement.  This will extend the useful life of that roadway in advance of the planned replacement/expansion of Rocky Heights Elementary.

This project has been included in the adopted Capital Improvement Plan, and is in the current FY '20-'21 budget, with all resources coming from the Utility Fund.

Due to timing of agenda deadlines and  actual bid-opening, final bids were not available at the publishing deadline.  Staff will provide the full list of bids, along with a recommendation for award to the lowest responsible bidder at the Dec. 14 Council meeting.
