TITLE:  Award Funding through the Transient Room Tax (TRT) Recreation Projects Grants

Transient Room Tax – TRT Recreation Projects Grants 

Summary and Background

The Recreation Project Advisory Committee met on July 8th at 4pm in the Hermiston Community Center to review six proposal submitted for the 2021-22 allocation.  Present at the meeting were Roy Barron, Kristina Olivas, Lydia Raath and Larry Fetter as staff,  Available for distribution is $28,000 and the total application amount was $32,575.  Application packets were sent to prior applicants and know parties of interest and made available on the City’s website.  The distribution criteria for applicants is as follows.

 

  

Applicants were allowed 10 minutes to describe their project proposals and answer questions from the Committee.  After review of the applications, the Committee discussed each proposal in detail and through consensus settled on the award amounts in the following table.  Unique to this year only, the application by Made to Thrive meets the funding criteria in grant from the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF).  As a result, the Made to Thrive request for $5,000 will be funded by the OCF program criteria and will be funded from the City’s allocation of $200,000 for youth program enhancement.

Authorize by motion, the funding allocations as recommended by the Committee.
