A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MANAGER TO APPLY FOR MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SKATEBOARD AND TEEN ADVENTURE PARK.
Summary and Background
In response to public interest in developing positive youth and teen recreation facilities in Hermiston, the Parks and Recreation Department has prepared a development plan to fund and construct a Teen Adventure Park that will include a covered skatepark element. The City purchased property in 2016 for the purpose of developing a skatepark.
The Teen Adventure Park development is proposed to be funded and constructed in phases. Phase I will include skatepark elements at a cost of $542,366 and has been awarded funding by the Oregon Recreation and Parks Department Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. Resolution No. 2212 will authorize staff to apply for Phase II funding from the ORPD Local Government Grant Program.
The Phase II cost will match the $542,366 from LWCF grant and would complete the project with a total project cost of $1,084,732. Phase II would include an expanded skate area, shade cover, bicycle pump track, parkour fitness area, security cameras and lighting and other site improvements.
